Leo prioritises sustainability throughout the whole design process...

Durable design, consciously created
EcoViz® from Leo Workwear is the leading brand of high visibility clothing made from recycled and sustainably sourced fabrics. All EcoViz® products fully conform to ISO 20471 and are constructed from recycled plastic bottles.
In 2019, Leo Workwear made the bold decision to introduce the first stocked high visibility clothing crafted from recycled content. Since then, we are proud to have transitioned every single Leo product to EcoViz fabrics.
Durability and Longevity
Sustainability is as much about HOW a product is made as it is about WHAT it is made of.
At Leo, we prioritise sustainability throughout the whole design process. We believe that buying quality products is essential for meeting environmental goals. That's why all products are built to withstand the demands of tough working environments again and again.
The Leo brand stands for quality on its own, but the use of branded components, such as VELCRO brand fasteners and YKK zippers provides that additional confidence and reassurance.
Designed to last wash after wash, we use the most durable components, construct products to last and test them rigorously to ensure they are not needlessly disposed of or replaced.
We believe that a garment that lasts longer and is replaced less often provides a more environmentally friendly solution.

0.002%
Return Rate
Our low return rate demonstrates the quality, consistency, and durability of our garments. The less we replace products, the less environmental impact we have.

Authentic recycled polyester verification
The Global Recycled Standard (GRS) is an internationally recognised certification for products that use recycled materials. But it goes far beyond simply confirming recycled content. To achieve GRS certification, every step in the journey of a garment, from the recycling of yarns through to the final stages of manufacturing, must be independently verified.
The standard also requires:
-
Clear traceability of materials all the way through the supply chain
-
Limits on harmful chemicals in processing
-
Responsible water and energy use
-
Safe and fair working conditions for the people making the products
In short, GRS looks at both the environmental and social impact of how a product is made, giving buyers confidence that what they’re purchasing has been responsibly sourced and produced

The process...

Knowing your impact
When companies make environmental claims, greenwashing is often a concern. To ensure full transparency, Leo Workwear has partnered with Green Story to conduct lifecycle assessments (LCAs) across our range, already covering over 75% of products, with the remainder to follow in the next 12 months.
An LCA measures a product’s impact at every stage of its life cycle, from raw materials to end-of-life. This data not only validates our sustainability claims but also guides our eco-design process, helping us create products with lower environmental impact from the very start.

Transparency is the currency of trust

Digital Product Passport
Upcoming EU legislation will make Digital product passports (DPP) mandatory, and expectations that the UK will follow suit.
A (DPP) is an emerging tool designed to provide detailed, accessible information about a product throughout its entire lifecycle. Stored in a digital format, often via a QR code, it contains data such as material composition, manufacturing processes, repair instructions, environmental impact, and end-of-life recycling options.
By making this information transparent and easily available to consumers, regulators, and businesses, digital product passports support circular economy goals, encourage sustainable consumption, and improve traceability across supply chains. They are increasingly being explored in sectors like fashion, electronics, and construction as part of wider efforts to reduce waste and meet sustainability targets.

Garment end of life solutions
The Leo Cares initiative communicates the steps we are taking on sustainability and social responsibility, all the way from garment design/conception through to the garments’ end of life.
We have multiple end of life partners to fulfil different needs. contact us today to find the right option for you.

Removing PFAS based treatments
PFAS, often referred to as “forever chemicals,” are substances historically used in protective clothing to provide water, oil, and stain resistance. However, these chemicals do not break down easily, making them harmful to both human health and the environment.
Their persistence contributes to long-term contamination in soil, water, and living organisms, posing serious risks to ecosystems and people alike. Eliminating PFAS is therefore crucial to reducing their lasting environmental and health impacts.

Our journey to being PFAS free
UV-U-SEE
Construction workers in the UK make up 8% of the nation's workforce, but account for 44% of occupational melanoma skin cancer deaths. Melanoma is the most deadly form of skin cancer with more deaths than all other skin cancers combined. The UV-U-SEE holistic skin protection system, is designed to inform, alert and nudge those busy working on-site into a new behaviour of protection and vigilance.
This behaviour change starts with ‘The Higher-Vis Vest’. Pablo, working with Leo Workwear, has pioneered an integrated UV-U-SEE silicon logo that’s filled with a long-lasting UV sensitive material. As the sun’s UV level intensifies, the logo changes from white to pink to red, alerting the wearer and fellow workers to take precautions. Alongside the vests sits UV-U-SEE sun cream from Life Jacket Skin Protection. A waterproof, non greasy product that makes it easy to apply on site.
