The Experts
Safety is at the forefront of everything we do, and at the heart of Leo Cares is our commitment to protecting people, the most important part of our mission.
In 1980, Leo founder and MD, Peter Turner designed and produced the first fluorescent high visibility waistcoats for a traffic marking company. Since then, he has seen the waistcoat transform from a simple safety garment to being established as the first item and mainstay of all PPE issues.
By 1985, Leo Workwear's waistcoat became the basis for the British Standard BS6629. This was a huge accomplishment for Leo Workwear and a reflection of our hard work and dedication.
Since then, we have expanded our range significantly, building on decades of hands-on industry experience. Throughout this growth, we have maintained a deep, specialist understanding of high-visibility clothing, from fabric performance and durability to compliance with relevant safety standards.
Our long-standing focus on high visibility workwear means we understand the practical demands of real working environments, allowing us to offer products that combine visibility, comfort, and long-term reliability.

Safety
Every high visibility garment we create undergoes rigorous, in-depth testing to ensure it meets and exceeds the strictest safety standards. From the earliest stages of research and development, through to certification and final production, we put every effort into making sure our products do exactly what they are designed to do: keep people visible, safe, and confident in all conditions.
By combining innovative design with thorough testing, we make sure that when someone puts on a Leo garment, they can trust it to protect them where it matters most. See below an example of the amount of testing just one garment goes through:

Charity

Ba Chieu Street Girls Home
In 2023, we started our first relationship with a charity in one of the locations where we manufacture. This was the Ba Chieu Street Girls Home. The home is a shelter and support facility that provides a safe place for vulnerable young girls, often those who are homeless or at risk of exploitation. The home offers security, educational opportunities, and emotional support to help the girls rebuild their lives. The home's mission focuses on empowerment and aims to equip the girls with the skills and resources necessary for a brighter future.
We are proud to support The Ba Chieu Street Girls Home continuously; it is an incredibly humbling experience seeing just how much of a difference the home makes for the girls that it takes in. At Leo, we know that by supporting charities like this, every single penny goes towards the girls and ensuring they are safe, educated and most importantly, loved.
We are dedicated to supporting charities in the areas where we manufacture. Our donations will cover study costs, food, health care, household expenses, and staff salaries. We will continue to support them for years to come, whilst looking for further opportunities in other manufacturing countries.

JAAGO Bangladesh
2025 saw our second partnership with the JAAGO Foundation in Bangladesh. JAAGO is a non-profit organisation working to transform the lives of disadvantaged communities in Bangladesh by tackling the root causes of poverty through education, empowerment, and social development. JAAGO currently operates 11 schools across Bangladesh and runs a digital education program that reaches children in rural areas who might otherwise miss out on schooling.
The organisation also places strong emphasis on women’s empowerment through dedicated scholarships and training, equipping women and girls with the tools to overcome barriers and pursue opportunities for growth.

Ocean Network
Located minutes away from the North Devon Coast, we value our surroundings and take an active approach to reduce our impact. As a result, we are proud to partner with Surfers Against Sewage to fight against pollution along our coasts.
Surfers Against Sewage is a UK-based environmental charity focused on protecting oceans, rivers, lakes, beaches and coastal ecosystems. Their mission is to campaign for clean water, reduce pollution, defend wild habitats, and promote health and well-being through nature.
We've joined the Ocean Network of like-minded brands united by our passion for protecting our beaches, waves and wildlife.

Care for Kids North Devon
Care for Kids North Devon is a small local charity that has been supporting families of seriously ill children since 2009. It provides financial assistance through grants to ease the burden of travel, accommodation, and other unexpected costs that arise when a child needs specialist medical care. The charity also funds improvements to the Caroline Thorpe children’s ward at North Devon District Hospital, creating more welcoming, comfortable spaces for young patients and their families. To date, Care for Kids has supported over 175 families with grants totalling more than £171,000, making a tangible difference to local families during some of their most difficult times.
Once a year, the Leo team take part in a 10km race around our local area to raise money for this amazing charity!

Ellen MacArthur Foundation
Carbon Literacy Training
The Ellen MacArthur Foundation is an international charity dedicated to advancing the circular economy by bringing together businesses, policymakers, and financial institutions to drive systemic change. They promote three core principles: eliminating waste and pollution, circulating products and materials, and regenerating nature.
At Leo, we are part of the Ellen MacArthur Foundation Community, meaning we internally engage with the foundation to deepen our understanding of eco-design and actively engage with the industry.
Throughout this website, you will encounter how we adopt the three core values of the Ellen MacArthur foundation into our business operations.
Carbon Literacy Training provides an understanding of the carbon costs and the information to take impactful climate action and enact the cultural shift necessary for the transition to a low-carbon economy. It is a globally unique initiative, developed by The Carbon Literacy Project and recognised by the UN at COP21.
Across all departments, 7 of our team members have now become Carbon Literate! They are equipped with an understanding of climate change, the carbon footprint of everyday activities, and the motivation to reduce emissions.
Factory Visits
At Leo, we deeply value the strong and long-standing relationships we have built with our suppliers over the years. These partnerships are at the very heart of what we do, and we believe that maintaining close connections allows us to deliver the very best to our customers.
To honour and strengthen these relationships, we make it a priority to visit our suppliers on a regular basis. These visits are an important way for us to show our appreciation, recognising the hard work, care, and dedication that our suppliers put into supporting us. By visiting, we gain a deeper understanding of their operations, processes, and innovations, which in turn helps us work more effectively and collaboratively.
These visits also ensure that we can maintain the high standards of quality and consistency that we set for ourselves, giving us greater insight into every step of the journey.
Taking the time to nurture these connections not only strengthens our partnerships but also ensures that we grow together in a way that is sustainable, respectful, and forward-thinking.

Leo Annual Beach Cleans

As part of our commitment to our community and our local environment, once a year, Leo staff swap their day-to-day jobs for a few hours tidying up the beaches of North Devon from plastic and other rubbish that would otherwise end up back in the ocean, harming our wonderful wildlife and coast!

Inclusion
We pride ourselves on providing products that enable people to do their job that was once inaccessible to them through a lack of appropriate PPE. This has been achieved through the most comprehensive women’s high visibility clothing range, which includes the first maternity range and the only stocked modesty tunic, as well as stocking a vast size range for both men and women.

Maternity wear
Leo designed and crafted the first maternity range of high visibility clothing, and we are constantly looking at ways we can provide further comfort, support, and practicality for pregnant women.
We have a maternity expander that enables pregnant women to transform their day-to-day Leo work jackets into bump-ready garments. It is a cost-effective and sustainable solution for pregnant women on-site. We also provide polo shirts in either long or short sleeves that have an elasticated side seam that will grow with the baby.
Our maternity cargo trousers offer practicality and comfort with their Lycra bump band.
Religious wear
Leo Workwear believes that everyone should be protected and safe at work, and safety shouldn’t be compromised for those looking to adhere to their religious beliefs.
We stock the only high vis modesty tunic, made with reflective segmented tape for a modern look and comfort. As well as UV protection to UPF 40+.
We have also designed our Hijab with a compression band, so that it doesn’t move when a helmet is being worn over it. It has also been made in a soft 3-layer grey fabric that complements other Leo garments.

Women's range
We have called upon our vast experience and expertise gained from over 40 years of producing high visibility clothing to create a number of garments that are specifically designed for the female wearer.
This core range of women's wear has undergone extensive wearer trials and fitting reviews, enabling us to offer a practical, yet stylish, range of high-performance garments perfect for the modern female workforce.

Sizes for all
No one product can fit everybody, and so providing choice is essential for any brand. Leo Workwear are already renowned for our efforts in providing products for all, with the most comprehensive men’s and women’s ranges, all available in vast size ranges.
Our men’s garments are stocked in sizes S to 6XL, and trousers can be found in a 28”-60” waist, in either short, regular or tall leg lengths.
Most of our women’s garments are stocked in sizes XXS-6XL (UK women’s 6-26), and trousers can be found in short or regular leg lengths.
